Dear Parents/Guardians, Walter Douglas Elementary School is focused on excellence! We are working diligently to create instructional materials to meet our academic goals in reading, math, writing, science, and technology literacy. On April 12th the state assessments, AIMS for 3rd—6th grade will begin and on April 13th and 14th the Stanford 10 for 2nd grade will take place. These tests are important because the results from these tests will provide information as to how your children are performing at their grade level of instruction. The results are also used to determine the performance level of the school. Walter Douglas is currently a “Performing Plus” school. I would also like to thank you for helping your child with their homework. Research shows that students who complete homework on a regular basis do well in school. Thanks to all of our parents for your continued support in sending snacks and supplies to the school. We really appreciate all your help! Sincerely,
