Dear Parents/Guardians,

With summer fast approaching, it is hard to believe that the 2011-2012 school year is coming to an end. All Bulldogs have worked hard this year demonstrating application of our Core Values and Principal’s Principles. With so much hard work and effort, our summer goal is not to lose the progress made throughout the school year. Please make sure your child is practicing their reading strategies and math facts during the summer months. We also have two summer programs. We have project S.T.A.R. at Flowing Wells Junior High and SKILLS For Success at Laguna. If you are interested in either of these programs, please come to the office to inquire or call the Flowing Wells Extension Program at 887-2600.

Kindergarten Registration
The round up continues! If you have a child who will be five years old before September 1, 2012, please sign him/her up for the BEST all-day kindergarten program in Tucson.

Returning Students
We are in the process of creating class lists for next year. Please return the blue registration packet to your child’s teacher. If you not planning to return to Walter Douglas next year, simply write “not returning” on the packet and return it with your child. We aim to create balanced classes for next year, so please be sure to get those registration packets in!

Walter Douglas Teacher of the Year
This school has the best teachers around, and as a team, they have nominated Mrs. Christena Tenney, Title One Reading Teacher, as the Teacher of the Year for the 2011-2012 school year. Congratulations, Mrs. Tenney!

Thank you to all of you for making this a productive and successful school year. We couldn’t have done it without you! We have genuinely enjoyed having your child at Walter Douglas this school year. We especially wish our outgoing sixth graders well as they transition to Flowing Wells Junior High. You are becoming Mustangs, but in our hearts, you will always be Bulldogs! For all kindergarten through fifth grade students, have a wonderful summer and we will see you next year!
